From 3 to 5 October, the historic centre is transformed into an authentic medieval setting thanks to its traditional Medieval Market, one of the most eagerly awaited events on Segovia’s cultural calendar.

As soon as you cross the Plaza del Azoguejo, at the foot of the Aqueduct, the atmosphere is surprising. Banners, flags and period decorations fill the streets, while artisans dressed in traditional costumes offer their products as if they had travelled back in time. The hustle and bustle of the market, the aroma of wood-fired ovens and the music of bagpipes and drums immerse visitors in an atmosphere that is difficult to find anywhere else.

Traditional crafts are one of the main attractions of this event. Carpenters, blacksmiths, potters and weavers demonstrate their skills live, recreating scenes that seem to have come straight out of a history book. It is the perfect opportunity to discover ancient techniques, appreciate craftsmanship and, at the same time, take home a unique souvenir of this journey into the past.

The programme is rounded off with shows for all audiences. Parades, theatrical performances and falconry displays fill the squares with colour and movement. There is no shortage of live music, which can be heard on every corner, or activities designed for children, who find this environment the perfect place to learn through play.

The setting of Segovia itself makes the Medieval Market a special experience. Walking through the narrow cobbled streets of the old town with its festive decorations and lively actors and musicians turns a simple stroll into a constant discovery.
